This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Where do students put their supplies when they do not have a desk?

My second grade students live in a low income metro area in Southern Nevada.

They enjoy coming to school and find it to be a safe and secure place, especially when they have great turmoil in their home lives. They are hard working and focused, wanting to achieve in school.

My Project

Since the students sit at tables, they do not have any place to put their supplies. They have to put their books, folders, and pencils on a shelf. This makes it inconvenient and time consuming whenever an item is needed. By having a pocket on the back of the chair, it will be easy access for supplies and each student with have their own "space".

Many of these kids share small spaces in their homes and would love to have a space all their own at school.

I know that a chair pocket for supplies may not seem like much, but it would mean the world to my second graders.
