My Students
Reel in the books! We want to love reading, and to do that, we need to have books available to us in our classroom. I am changing grade levels and need more "big kid" books. I want to provide books that reflect different cultures, genres of literature, and reading levels.
My students are hard working 3rd graders in a public school in the peach state of Georgia.
They enjoy learning new things, having fun while learning, and trying new things. They are a diverse group, in race, learning styles, personalities, and taste in literature!
My Project
This books will be used daily in my classroom. My husband and I built a book loft in my new classroom. My classroom them is "Cool School" with fish and ocean them. The loft will be the "Reading Reef", and offer students a comfortable place to snuggle up with a good book. We will also use the books to compliment our Georgia Performance standards, particularly our Social Studies standards as I have including many different books on American History and Civics.
These books will offer my students a selection.
We are in a very, very large school, and we have a nice Media Center. However, I truly believe it is essential to have books in the classroom available at all times. It takes longer than you would imagine to walk to the Media Center, pick out a book, and walk back. While this will be a choice at times, having books in the classroom within arms reach of students is irreplaceable!
