Digging Up Dinosaurs!

My students need a Classroom Dinosaur Dig Kit.

My Students

Have you ever wanted to be a paleontologist? My students love dinosaurs. They are reading books about dinosaurs and we will begin a dinosaur unit soon. I think one of my students might even become a paleontologist when he grows up!

I am a fourth and fifth grade teacher.

Our school is in a big city in Texas. My students are learning English as their second language. They have moved to the United States from Mexico, El Salvador, Vietnam, Pakistan, and Spain. Many of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged. My students are very hard workers and I am proud to be their teacher!

My Project

I am requesting a realistic "dinosaur dig" kit as a culminating activity for our dinosaur unit. My students will become paleontologists as they dig for T-Rex fossils. The students will carefully uncover the fossils as they divide the dig site into a grid like real paleontologists. They will use support rods and digging tools. After all the fossils are uncovered, students will work together to put the T-Rex skeleton back together.

This hands-on dinosaur project is important because it will make my students feel like paleontologists.

During the project, students will use their new science vocabulary words. Students will have to use teamwork and patience as they dig for fossils and reassemble the bones into a T-Rex skeleton. They will feel such a sense of accomplishment! Your generous donation will give my students a memory that will last a lifetime!
