Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

It's a very exciting time for my class! At the end of the year, I typically don't look forward to the last day of school because I know it will mean tears from my students and me. But this year I get to loop them up to third grade!

My current second graders have made great gains this year.

Our school is in a low socio-economic community and my students did enter second grade struggling to read and not strong in their number sense. We have worked very hard and they are all at end of the year benchmark and I get to be their third grade teacher next year!

My Project

My students need third grade materials to enhance our start to the new school year. Special items like Math Minutes and Multiplication Rock will help continue our excellent progress. We have been successful in part because I have second grade materials that I purchased myself, but this year we are facing a 4% reduction in pay, furlough days, and cuts to our school budget. Needless to say, I cannot afford to purchase the materials for third grade that I had collected the years I taught second grade. My students will have the opportunity to expand and enrich their learning through the materials requested through this proposal.

I am super excited to incorporate the activities offered in the resource books I am requesting for my class!
