Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach very appreciative, culturally diverse first grade students in a high-need community (Title I school).

My students have showed a strong interest in science this year; they love learning about the natural environment around them. The students are also showing a desire to express themselves through writing. They enjoy writing about the science activities that we complete in class.

The resources that I have requested will increase their ability to learn about science topics in depth. The science curriculum consists of rocks, sand, and soil; as well as, weather. Therefore, these science centers will be a great supplement to the class lessons. In addition, the students will be able to increase their writing skills through the use of the writing centers. They will be able to write about their science experiences using proper writing techniques. Lastly, the students will be able to use their lab coats to become Mad Scientists and also use the coats to become the part of Dr. Gorgeous to edit and revise their writing as a doctor would do in the ER. They will look at patients (sick paragraphs) and cure (edit) them. Then they will look at the Xray (edited transparency teacher copy) to find out if they have made the patient well.
