Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I currently have 16 students, four are ESOL and many are on free or reduced meals. There is a special education class next door with whom we do constant integration. We are not a Title 1 school, but we are awfully close. Many of our students come from families that cannot necessarily afford school supplies, let alone lunch. With the economy the way it is, there is even less money to go around.

My students need dry erase materials. I bought dry erase boards, markers and erasers using my own money two years ago. All of these materials are now in poor condition, and I would love to have new dry erase boards, markers and erasers for my students next year.

These boards are special because one side has handwriting lines and the other is blank. Both are usable with dry erase markers. We have also been using old felt scraps to erase for two years and I am hoping that we can get some erasers to go with our new boards.

You can help my students prepare for first grade by having better handwriting and knowledge of how to draw pictures to solve math problems. This will give them a head start for the difficult first grade curriculum!
