My soccer team needs 25 soccer balls, 15 black scrimmaging vests, and 2 large mesh bags.

I teach 9th grade Special Education at an urban charter school in Massachusetts. I also coach the co-ed varsity soccer team with another colleague of mine. We are a charter school that depends heavily on rigorous academics and various sports to get our students focused on education and also into college.

Our students love to play sports. Sports are a great way for our students to maintain high GPAs (Grade Point Averages), keep up with positive behavior, stay physically fit, manage their emotions and get into college. Unfortunately, our small school also has a small budget. Most of our money goes to academics, which leaves a damper in the physical education department and much needed resources out of our practices.

Our soccer team needs a team set of 25 soccer balls that the players can bring to practice, but can also bring home to practice on their own. We also need 15 scrimmage jerseys to use at practices and two large bags to hold all the balls. These soccer balls will be property of our school and checked out to players yearly.

Your support will make it possible for a soccer team to practice weekly. More importantly, our players will feel a sense of pride and responsibility with the new equipment. They will become empowered to practice at home and very possibly use soccer as a gateway into college. This would make an amazing difference in the climate of our team!
