I teach reading, writing, and social studies to 5th grade students. The vast majority of my students are living far below the poverty line. Our school averages between 94%-97% of students qualifying for free and reduced lunches. Asking my students to bring money for a magazine subscription is not an option for me.

My students love to read about current events, but they don't have access to any. Non-fiction is such a huge part of life and my students aren't being exposed to enough.

By supplying my students with their own copy of Time for Kids magazine, many things can be accomplished. The main thing is they will be reading about current events they are interested in. That is huge because it is so hard to find material that is interesting to all kids. It will also provide them with the non-fiction skills that they need in order to be successful. Not to mention it will tie into many subjects like reading, science, and social studies.

Your help can make it possible for my students to have a great resource that they would not have had otherwise. This one subscription means so much to them and will help them with so many skills they need to be successful. I do not have words to express to you how wonderful my students are and how grateful they would be to receive your generous help.
