Mrs. Moriarty's classroom raised $549

Readers Rock!

My students need the above books as part of our class library. Students will be required to read each night as part of their homework and will also be required to submit reports on their reading on a daily and monthly basis.

I teach 6th grade reading and social studies at a public school. My students are eager to learn and my school was able to meet AYP for the first time ever this year. We (myself and my students) are eager to continue this momentum this year and build a culture of achievement in our school and our classroom. Despite the difficulties many of my students face outside of school, they are a true example for others- they can and do achieve at high levels and are able to attain academic success each day.

Our classroom library is very small. My 60 students only have about 70 books to choose from, which makes exposure to an interesting selection of literature often difficult. My students are excited to read, and in fact do read each day as part of their in class and homework assignments, but lack the materials needed in order to truly explore literature.

We need books to fill our classroom library with a robust selection of literature. Students develop of a love of learning and a passion for literature when they are able to choose books from a wide variety of genres and subjects. Not only will we ensure that the students will be able to choose from a large selection of fiction and non-fiction books for their independent reading, we will help foster a love of reading in each of the 60 students that steps foot in the classroom.

You will make it possible for my students to develop a life long love of reading and empower them with the ability to discover and explore many genres of literature. Your donation will help ensure the academic success of the students and will be greatly appreciated!
