Your help can promote early literacy skills and develop a love of reading! As a kindergarten teacher, one of my primary goals is to develop an enthusiasm and love for reading in young children. My students are energetic and wonderful children who also happen to have varying special needs.

As a beginning teacher working in a title I school, it is often difficult to obtain the materials needed to provide my students with rich literacy experiences. It is a reality that many of my students enter my classroom with limited literacy experiences and often lack materials at home. Therefore, it is crucial that I provide my students with literacy experiences that are meaningful, hands-on, and engaging!

A classroom read-along listening center would provide my students with an additional way to access and explore literature. A listening center will help students develop concepts of print strategies, comprehension and retelling skills, and most importantly, a love of reading!
