I am a third grade teacher in a moderately low income suburb in the Metro Detroit area. Many of our families have been affected by the recent economy and therefore children move in and out of our district all year long.

Our district has developed a math curriculum where each grade level identified 15-20 math essentials that all students will master by the end of the year. For the students to master all essentials they need to practice the skills over and over.

I would like to start a math game day once a week to help students master all essentials for that grade level. The resources that I have chosen include games, activities and practice cards that reinforce the essentials for 3rd grade. Some of the materials include a math game library of 8 separate math games, 2 solve and check math sliders, math puzzle and problem solving activity cards, and a regrouping activity pocket chart.

I encourage you to help make a difference by donating to this grant. In doing so you would help children master essential math skills that will serve them all their lives.
