My Students

Do you remember the holiday season when you were a child? Now try to imagine that same holiday experience with a disability. The Lakeland High School Toys for Tots Holiday Party for Handicapped Children helps children who have physical, mental, and emotional disabilities enjoy the holiday season.

My students are a part of the Lakeland High School Leadership Class.

They are juniors and seniors who spend hours and hours donating their time to help others and to run major school events here at Lakeland High School. These students are some of the most dedicated, hard working students here at Lakeland. They provide all the major social and community service activities for the entire Lakeland High School student body.

My Project

I a requesting colored pencils so that my Leadership students can help the students that we bring into Lakeland draw images and pictures of the holiday season and other things and try to make, even for just this one day, their lives a little more fun and enjoyable. To try to help the forget they have a disability and to help them feel good about themselves and who they are.

This project is important because it helps handicapped children from all across out county have a happy and joyous holiday season.

It will also help these handicapped students feel a part of something bigger then they are and to feel accepted in our society.
