I am a music therapist hired to teach music at a charter school for a special group of students. They all have diagnoses of ADHD and Autism (primarily Asperger's Syndrome). My students struggle with finding things that make school rewarding for them. Concentration is difficult which adds to frustration and stress during the school day. My secondary students love music class. They come in twice a day and play guitars and keyboards for 45 minutes. It’s great to see them focusing –working out chords, learning words to songs, and even writing music themselves. They have begun asking for new and more varied experiences with instruments. Their latest request is to learn to play the banjo. Who knew there would be such an interest in Bluegrass in Cleveland? I would love to give them the opportunity to broaden their horizons! You can help us get a banjo for our class. My students are thankful for every opportunity to have a new musical experience. Also, they do a great job at sharing the equipment and taking care of it. Please consider making a donation that will really make a difference. Thank you!
