My students need a class set of Matilda by Roald Dahl. My goal is to get my students to gain a love for literature through Roald Dahl books.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men."~ Roald Dahl.
My students deserve to share the love of reading that my grandmother has instilled in me from the time I was young. She did this by getting us to read literature that made us laugh. I want to do the same for my class.
I have a wonderful group of fourth graders in a Philadelphia inner city school.
I teach in a 3-5 intermediate school that services over 800 students. Many of the students in my classroom come from homes where English is not the primary language. For many of the kids, reading on a regular basis is a rarity, and I want to change that.
My Project
Reading all types of literature is important to me as an educator, but I also want reading to be fun. As a class we have had the chance to read many of Roald Dahl's wonderful stories, such as "The Twits", "The Magic Finger", "The BFG" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". By reading "Matilda", I hope my students not only enjoy their reading, but are able to make connections to his other students and practice many reading skills to improve their reading.
The donations received through this project will allow my students to feel their education matters, and hopefully their love of reading will grow beyond my classroom.
By giving students the chance to read stories that they will enjoy, they have a better chance of improving their reading.
