Improving Reading Acheivement

My students need a supply of instant literacy centers, covering reading & writing, vowel patterns and phonics.

I teach first grade in a low socioeconomic community. My 25 students come to school with little or no previous schooling before kindergarten. Most of the students get instruction only in the classroom, little to none at home.

Our class has little or no money given to use in our classrooms. These materials would be a much valued item.

These literacy centers will allow my students to self learn in small groups while I do small group reading instruction. Coming up with centers that students can do on their own with little instruction but high content is hard to find. These centers would help with this need.

With your support, I can use these centers to help bring reading skills to my students. This may be the only opportunity they have to be taught the skills they need to be successful students.
