Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When children get the chance to create things with their hands or experience things through the exploration of their senses, they have so much fun and learn so much. As much fun as it is to learn and create with your hands, it is also very, very messy.
My students are Pre-Kindergarten students, who are all from low income families.
The majority of my students, or like I like to call them, my little friends, come from non-English speaking families. These precious children have had very few early learning experiences, which is why they have earned a placement in my classroom. Each of them are very curious about the world around them and enjoys learning through exploration.
My Project
My little friends need waterproof 12 smocks and four waterproof floor mats to help keep themselves and our floor clean and dry. My little friends have the opportunity to create with their hands and work with the sensory table every day, but our old smocks are falling apart and offer no protection for the students' clothing, our floor mats have holes in them and offer very little protection on the floor. As a result, the students, their clothes and the floor suffer. A set of heavy-duty smocks and waterproof mats will enable the students to continue to enjoy and learn from art and sensory play without messing up the floor and their clothing.
Creating and exploring with your hands helps to develop lasting learning.
Through your donation, you can help my little friends to develop learning opportunities and keep their shirts and our floors clean and dry.
