Welcome to my 2nd Grade Classroom! I teach a wonderful group of boys and girls in a low-income, high need district in upstate New York.

Part of my 2nd Grade curriculum involves teaching the students how to write a complete sentence, a good paragraph, and eventually, an expressive essay. This continues to be a very intimidating process for many of my students despite my encouragement and praise. I would like my students to look forward to the writing period with excitement instead of dread. I want them to know that writing can be a fun and exciting process. Funding has been drastically cut due to our district going to a contingency budget so I am unable to purchase the materials necessary to set up a good writing program that would spark the creativity and enthusiasm that I know is in them.

The Write and Publish Activity Center, the Daily Writing Prompt Flip Chart, the Research and Report Writing Center, and the Instant Writing Center will help me reach this goal. After introducing the writing skill for the week, the students would be able to try out interesting and fun activities to practice this skill while I work with small groups of students each day on their writing task.

Your generosity will help excite my students about writing and to leave 2nd Grade with the tools necessary to be successful writers in 3rd Grade. Thank you for your consideration!
