Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach third grade in New York. My school is a Title 1 school and the largest in the area. My students have the desire to learn, but not the resources. Students in my school struggle to buy the supplies needed to get the best education possible.

After five years of teaching, there are many things that have changed but some things that haven't. Of course, my students change year to year, however their ability to supply the necessary resources to learn haven't. Every year, I have students who struggle to bring in a pencil to school, let alone notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, and glue- all which are tools used for lessons every day. Unfortunately, my school and the board of ed. barely supply any resources for our students. Every year I go out and purchase supplies for my students in need, however it begins to get quite expensive.

This is where you the donor becomes a remarkable person and helps my students to succeed in school. By supplying notebooks, glue, pencils, crayons, and colored pencils, my students will be prepared everyday for school and will be able to focus on the school work rather than what they will write with or where they can do their work. These simple supplies can make a huge difference in a third graders ability to learn.

I would like to thank you in advance for your generosity and help. These basic school supplies are so important to my students. They will make a difference in their ability to learn and succeed in school.
