Help me help my students fall in love with math!!!

I teach high school mathematics at one of the few remaining large, public high schools in New York City.

We have over 4000 students; 95% of whom qualify for free or reduced lunch. My goal is to optimize the learning experience in my classroom with engaging, interactive lessons. The challenge is meeting the needs of every student whether she is entering high school at the third grade math level, a student with special needs, a recent immigrant who's an English-language learner, or a gifted math whiz on track to take Calculus as a senior. Yes, all these students with different needs are in the same exact class!

My Project

An LCD projector is an essential tool for differentiating instruction and making math exciting for my students. Through integrating technology, math will come ALIVE! Video and audio clips, PowerPoint presentations, and interactive math software will become integral components of everyday math lessons. For instance, Geometer's sketchpad is a dynamic software that facilitates students' understanding of abstract properties, theorems, and proofs that are tough to grasp.

High school = high stakes.

At the end of the course, students take a state exam that has implications for their eligibility to graduate high school and qualify for college scholarships. I want to see my students succeed (and perhaps, fall in love with math)! You can play an integral goal in making this happen.
