Sensory Needs and Social Skills Needed: Help Me Help My Kids

The project needs sing along CDs, activity packs, paint, sand, porcupine balls and a sand and water table to engage the senses of the students.

This project is fully funded

Hi! I'm a special education teacher working in a District 75 school (self-contained school) in NYC. I am the Sensory and Social Skills teacher working primarily with students with Autism. I also work with one class of students with emotional disturbances. My students are in grades 1-5 (and they are all SO cute!) The class I am teaching is new this year and unfortunately, my resources are very limited. I have purchased many things already (and exceeded my Teacher's Choice money) and will undoubtedly continue to purchase things as needs arise. Since it is a new program, I am starting from scratch and I can't meet my students' needs properly on my own all at once. The help from a wonderful person or organization would be GREATLY appreciated. All of my students have great sensory needs and the items I have requested will allow them to get the stimulation they need. Allowing my students to engage in sensory-stimulating activities would help them remain calm and focused for their day. All of the requested items address my students' sensory needs as well as allow me to incorporate teaching them the social skills they need. My students are crying out (some literally) for their sensory needs to be addressed. While I do all I can with what I have, I, with your help, can give my students a better, more appropriate experience with the items requested. I urge you to help my students become more balanced and less agitated so they can fully enjoy each day at school. You can help their day be wonderful!
