Teaching Japanese Arts and Culture in Elementary School
My students need books and art supplies to learn about Japanese arts and culture.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Yoo's classroom raised $574

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What if students could travel all over the world and learn the different cultures without the costly funding? My students will be culturally immersed in Japanese art for a week without flying to Japan!
I teach art to K-5th grade students.
The majority of them are from low income families, which is why I need your help. They are the sweetest and brightest kids they can be. Even though they don't have much, their smiles and desire to learn make my job so rewarding and meaningful.
My Project
Through this Japanese Art Unit, students will learn Japanese arts, cultural differences, and language, that will help them grow as a global citizen. I am requesting many books about Japanese cultures, art, language, and tales so that students can create not only art but also read and learn about Japanese culture. Additionally, students will be able to make four art projects that are inspired by Japanese art: Gyotaku the fish print, cherry blossom painting, calligraphy, and origami. They will also be able to try out the traditional Japanese paper making, which is tied in with 3rd grade recycling unit standard.
Your donation will make a huge impact on our students' lives because our students will thoroughly enjoy and appreciate Japanese art for the rest of their lives.
This multicultural art integration will allow them to broaden their horizon and look at the world in a whole different perspective.
