My seniors need 45 copies of the Camus classic The Stranger.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Coffey's classroom raised $610
This project is fully funded
My seniors are a group of lovable, hard working young men and women in an urban setting who have dealt with old, beaten copies of books their whole high school career. Like everything, they make the most of this, often repairing the books themselves with tape, staples and rubber bands.
We get very little money ear-marked for books. This year I used my allotment to get them much needed new copies of The Canterbury Tales.
This second semester we are going to read The Stranger. I would love to see the look on their faces when they have brand new books that have been donated from someone who cares instead of old worn out ones that are often too hard to repair or read.
These kids feel ignored by the greater community. When someone steps up and supports them in unexpected ways they really "get it." They need the book because it is important, but they need the donation because it would touch them deeply.
