This school year, the frontline wisdom of teachers was on display brighter than ever.

Educators across the country used DonorsChoose.org to help students explore new perspectives, learn at their own pace, see themselves in learning materials, and so much more.

As we gear up to give even more students essential learning opportunities next year, we're celebrating some of our favorite moments from this past school year.

"You have given my kids a reason to trust that people in the real world care about their education."

Ms. Hessler

More teachers started the year with resources than ever before.

Each fall, we have the lucky opportunity to introduce teachers to a national network of donors excited to help them succeed.

Teachers filled their shelves with adventures and excitement.

Teachers know that a single book can change a student's life, and year after year, teachers request books more than any other resource. This past October, we turbo-charged this love of reading with the #FillEveryShelf flash match, doubling donations to books and literacy projects for one incredible day.

SONIC Drive-In celebrated 10 years of Limeades for Learning

SONIC Drive-In's Limeades for Learning, one of our most beloved campaigns, celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. That's 10 years of voting for our favorite projects on LimeadesForLearning.com, 10 years of collecting those extra vote stickers from SONIC locations, and for teachers like Ms. Hall, it means 10 years of projects funded by SONIC!

Companies and foundation partners helped bring 181,271 classroom projects to life — 71% of all funded projects this school year.

Students across the country say #ISeeMe.

#ISeeMe is a research-backed initiative that supports teachers of color, women teaching STEM, and any teacher requesting resources that reflect their students' identities so that all students can say "I see me" when they walk into the classroom. We launched the campaign this spring, spurred by a $4 million matching grant from Google.org, part of their $5 million commitment to inclusive classrooms.

Inaugural supporters include Google.org, Eva Chen, Chancellor Richard A. Carranza, Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Lupita Nyong'o, former Secretary of Education John B. King Jr., and more.

"Wow! I had to stop class in order to release all of the excitement I had after seeing the email that said our project was fully funded. You are our new inspiration."

Supersized Teacher Appreciation Week(s) celebrated teachers across the country.

There was so much love to go around this year around that we couldn't contain it to just one week! Individual donors teamed up with our partners at Google.org, Craig Newmark Philanthropies, SONIC Drive-In, GM, Vertex, AT&T, and Yamaha to bring thousands of classroom projects to life over two action-packed weeks.

Thank You

As we head into our 20th year, we're inspired by the teachers who go above and beyond for their students each day, by the donors and partners who give generously, and by the innovation that's at the core of this community. Thank you for an incredible school year!
