Needless to say, with almost 80% of the world consisting of water, Swim lessons and Water Safety are very important. My class will teach students to Swim for Safety, Fitness, and Recreation; however, working in a very poor School District, with limited supplies, makes it difficult to have the necessary basic supplies to aid in teaching Swimming to these eager students. The kick boards and flippers are important tools to teach the proper way to kick in the water. The goggles help students adjust to the water by feeling more comfortable when they can see clearly under the water without eye irritation sometimes caused by chlorine. The swim noodles are used for various activities to help students adapt/adjust to the water to help them feel comfortable enough to learn to swim. We were once a District with 12 Swimming pools. We are now down to 3 working pools for a School District that has close to 200,000 students. I can not change that; however, I wish to change the Swim ability of the students I teach and hopefully I/We can make a difference in minority fatalities as well as others. Helping to provide the equipment will help tremendously!!
