We have a diverse class of 31 First graders. Most of our students live in the urban area. There are many different academic abilities, economic levels, and nationalities in our class. And of course, there are many personalities- 31 to be exact! We are an expeditionary school, which means our students learn by doing and seeing. Much of our work is completed on field studies. For our first expedition, we will study the ocean, however, we live 8 hours from the shore! In addition to the academic benefits, bringing the ocean to the classroom will allow first graders to appreciate the fragility of life.
