Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Besides competing in the league, our players also spend a significant amount of time engaging in recreational gaming both during and after school. These experiences help them build teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a more relaxed, low-pressure environment. However, we recognize that not all students have equal access to games outside of school due to financial constraints, which can create barriers to participation and inclusion.

To address this, our program maintains a shared game library that students can borrow from.

This ensures that every player has the opportunity to access and practice the same titles, regardless of their personal circumstances. By removing financial barriers, we create a more equitable environment where all students can fully participate, improve their skills, and feel connected to the team.

We take a similar approach with equipment. Through generous support from DonorsChoose, we can provide peripherals and other gaming resources that students can borrow as needed. Whether a student needs a headset, game, controller, or other equipment, they have access to the tools required to participate fully. This not only supports competitive play but also encourages continued engagement, confidence, and a sense of belonging within the program.
