Not only did they have to create these projects, but they needed to write an artist statement explaining their project along with why they chose certain, colors, shapes, and features. I had so much positive feedback from students who felt they were able to understand the novel on a deeper level and become more engaged with the text as a whole. My students were ecstatic when they found out the materials were supplied to create a project. Creating these projects and exploring their creativity is a huge highlight for many of my students.\r\n\r\nStudents also enjoyed having materials for everyday usage such as glue sticks, jolly ranchers, vinegar, and dry erase supplies. Naturally, they were the most excited for the candy.\r\n\r\nThe next steps are to continue using these supplies for future projects and labs and even carry over into this next school year. Currently, we are in our photosynthesis and cellular respiration lab, but genetics is next!
