My students were so excited to receive the new items and began using them right away! We placed the Nugget couch and new folding chairs in our classroom library. My students walked in after recess and instantly wanted to sit in the library and begin reading because of the new seating choices! \r\n\r\nA majority of my students come from low income families where these types of options are not available to them. It was pure joy for them to know that someone was thoughtful enough to purchase this for them to use at school. My students were very intrigued to see how the Nugget couch worked and we practiced making different configurations together. They loved building forts and lounging spaces in which they could read, write, and work throughout the day. \r\n\r\nOur classroom is a dual language bilingual English/Spanish classroom where language and interaction is a major part of our day. These new choices have given us new collaboration spaces in which my students can interact with their peers to grow their knowledge of both English and Spanish. When students have indoor playtime, I also plan to incorporate the Nugget couch to give students hands-on building choices in which they can build and play together. \r\n\r\nMy students and I cannot thank you enough for funding this project for us.
