Students each build their own rocket. They were able to learn the different parts of the rockets, learn the vocabulary terms associated, and design the outside of their own rocket. \r\n\r\nOur team created a whole rocket unit which culminated in the launching of the rockets. Parents were invited to come watch. It was a beautiful day. The students were so excited to watch them shoot up into the air. They then needed to go find them in the field. A few did not launch properly but those students still had a blast. \r\n\r\nWe also created a family night were parents and students could come and build a rocket together and then launch it on our launch day. Headphones are expensive and if they break continuously the likelihood a family could continue to supply them. Many of the items donated from help us create creative ways to cultivate a learning environment. We do a lot of hands on activities and needed the supplies to do so. Markers, crayons, bingo stamps all help with different activities in both reading and math project. We all know kindergarten students go through supplies rapidly and having extra from these big packs allows us to keep the supplies throughout a majority of the school year. We are also so grateful for the whiteboards. When I got into my classroom, we had whiteboards for each student but they were covered in scratches, marker that wont come off, drawings, etc. that just made using them very difficult. We use these all the time for large group and small groups. The snacks and bags were great for our recent fieldtrip allowing all of our students to have a snack during the long day.
