We have a lego table top that includes the smallest sized miniature legos, and we have cloth bins including medium size legos. The kids were thrilled to have characters for both of these areas!\r\n\r\nThe kids' play is so much more enhanced now! It was almost impossible for the students to develop plots to go with the lego settings they had created before having people. Now they have created homes with brothers and sisters having their own bedrooms, cities with community helpers working in them, car garages where repairs are being completed, and even haunted houses. \r\n\r\nThey squeal with laughter, and the kids have more play stamina now. This play also corresponds with our literacy curriculum so well, as we discuss the story elements of: characters, setting, problem, response to the problem, and resolution. Thank you for making our play experiences so much more meaningful!","fullyFundedDate":1757531773617,"projectUrl":"project/people-matter-in-imaginative-play/9460882/","projectTitle":"People Matter in Imaginative Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gulden","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2770569_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1533436594527","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2770569"},{"teacherId":2770569,"projectId":9460868,"letterContent":"You should have seen the kids' faces when I unpacked all of the boxes of new MAGNA-TILES! There were \"oohs and ahhs\" galore! There was particular excitement about the themed sets: dinosaurs, farm, the arctic, forest animals, etc...\r\n\r\nTo say the MAGNA-TILES play center is popular is an understatement. It has been full with 3 students engaged at all times since it opened. It's always fun to watch what the kids will come up with in their \"storylines\". They have had some unique play scenarios develop including the attack of the dinosaurs at the farm! The students have also used teamwork to line up the MAGNA-TILES from one side of the classroom to the other and to stack them taller than they are, incorporating some amazing math skills too!\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping me to bring these tools and experiences to life for the kids. As a teacher, you want to give your students everything and more. However, budgets remain tight and personal funds only go so far. It's really important to me for the kids' play experiences to remain relevant as the times change. Thank you for assisting us in bringing these modern toys to our classroom.
