Students practiced letter formation, writing words and sentences, solved math problems, drew diagrams, and participated in interactive whole-group and partner activities. Having reusable materials means every child has the opportunity to practice, make mistakes, erase, and try again with confidence.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was immediate when the materials arrived! My students couldn't wait to use the scented markers, and the glove \"erasers\" quickly became a classroom favorite. What might seem like small touches made a huge difference in student engagement. Even students who are sometimes hesitant to participate were eager to volunteer, write on their boards, and share their thinking with the class.\r\n\r\nThese resources have already transformed our lessons by making learning more collaborative and interactive. One memorable moment was during a writing activity when every student eagerly held up their dry erase board to share their sentences. Instead of worrying about making mistakes on paper, they confidently revised their work, encouraged one another, and celebrated their progress together. It created an environment where students felt comfortable taking risks and learning from one another.\r\n\r\nAs we continue on with a new school year, these materials will remain an important part of our daily instruction. The donation directly touched 120+ fifth grade students, but the entire school is buzzing about the chicks. Your donation has enabled students to witness the hatching of the eggs right before their eyes. From start to finish, this project was so memorable for my students and I am truly grateful for your support.\r\n\r\nOur incubation unit covers so much more than hatching chicks. Today our first grade buddies came to our room, and working with a fifth grade friend, were able to describe their chicks to learn about adjectives while choosing a name for their special chick. Some of our kindergarten friends joined us while the fifth grade students held the chicks. It is amazing to watch the big kids and little kids all working together. In math we practiced graphing and when done carefully it resulted in a picture of a chick. Our science lessons this week revolved around Salmonella which prompted more than one fifth grade student to remind their little buddies to use hand sanitizer after touching the chicks.\r\n\r\nSo yes, you provided the incubators that allowed us to hatch chicks, but actually you have given us so much more. This adventure has taught us to communicate with friends of different ages, has built life lessons, and has encouraged us to care about others. Thank you for your very generous donation. We have done a lot of printing over the past few months. It has been a learning experience, but it has been fun. We have made many items. One of the favorite is a set of fidgets that have multiplication and division basic facts upon them. I made a set for each 3rd grade classroom and have heard many wonderful things. Students enjoy the fact that it is a fidget, but also something that can help them learn.We have also made several fidgets for our classroom as well as other students in the building (and even a few at the high school per a request of the special ed department). This has allowed these students to have a release while learning, allowing them to focus more on the lesson. Other fun items that were made include items for our HAWK shop. Bookmarks, keychains, and flyers were created as rewards for student behavior. Infinity cubes were made for prizes during math and homeroom games. I have also had a request from our custodial department, asking to create a few items to help with encasing the fire alarm switches, making it secure from accidental release. And finally, our Elf-on-the-Shelf got involved and made himself a glider to show off and entertain the kids at Christmas! More printing is sure to come. More learning is sure to come as well. They immediately gathered around the dollhouse people, furniture, and accessories, eager to begin playing and pretending together. Many students could not wait to share ideas for imaginary play, while others excitedly flipped through the feelings books and pointed out emotions they recognized. The Play-Doh shape tools quickly became a favorite as students enthusiastically created faces, shapes, and imaginative creations while talking and laughing with classmates.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these resources, we have been using them daily during centers, morning meetings, and social-emotional learning activities. One especially meaningful moment happened during dramatic play when a group of students used the dollhouse figures to act out a conflict and practice ways to solve the problem kindly. Students used feeling words from our posters and books to explain how the characters felt and worked together to come up with solutions. It was wonderful to watch them apply empathy, communication, and cooperation skills so naturally through play.\r\n\r\nThese materials have helped create a more supportive and engaging classroom environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and connecting with others.
