Because of your donations, we were able to provide engaging, hands-on summer classes that fostered creativity, connection, and joy for our summer students. Each week a offered new opportunities for learning and growth-all supported by the games, puzzles, books, and craft supplies you helped to provide.\r\n\r\nWeek One- Making Friendship Bracelets (Kindergarten & 1st Grade)\r\nWith your support, I purchased beads and colorful bracelet thread that became the foundation of this class. Children practiced fine motor skills as they carefully threaded beads, strengthened their focus and patience, and -most importantly- created bracelets to exchange with friends and family. This tangible act of giving nurtured kindness, friendship, and self-expression while providing children with a treasured keepsake to take home.\r\n\r\nWeek Two- Storybooks and Art (Kindergarten & 1st Grade)\r\nThanks to your donations, I was able to purchase a wide selection of children's books that inspired imagination and creativity. After listening to stories, students engaged in art projects that brought the characters and themes to life. This combination of literacy and art not only deepened comprehension but also encouraged children to make personal connections to literature. The books purchased this summer will continue to enrich our classroom library for years to come. \r\n\r\nWeek Three- Board Games (Kindergarten & 1st Grade)\r\nYour generosity provided board games that transformed the summer classroom into a hub of fun, learning, and collaboration. As students played, they learned how to:\r\n*Take turns and work together as a team\r\n*Strengthen early literacy and numeracy skills\r\n*Practice problem-solving and critical thinking\r\n*Develop fine motor coordination\r\nMost importantly, students experienced the joy of play and laughter with their peers. These games continue to be a go-to during Friday Fun time, fostering social-emotional and academic growth.\r\n\r\nWeek Four- Board Games (2nd & 3rd Grade)\r\nA new group of upper elementary students joined in the fun during this week of summer school classes, and thanks to your donations, I was able to expand our collection of age-appropriate board games. These more advanced games challenged students to think strategically, work collaboratively, and practice patience and perseverance. Students also developed stronger communication skills while learning to navigate competition and sportsmanship in healthy ways. For many, this was a chance to build friendships while discovering new favorite games. \r\n\r\nWeek Five- Puzzles and Logic Games (2nd & 3rd Grade)\r\nOur final week welcomed another group of older students for a class with puzzles and logic challenges. With the puzzles purchased through your generosity, students stretched their problem-solving skills, practiced persistence, and experienced the satisfaction of completing both individual and group challenges. This week not only strengthened critical thinking and reasoning skills but also fostered resilience- students learned that sometimes the best solutions come after trying again in new ways. \r\n\r\nYour generosity made ALL of this possible. The beads, books, games, and puzzles you provided were more than just materials- they were tools for joyous learning and connection. Every smile, every shared story, every \"I did it!\" moment was made possible because of you.","fullyFundedDate":1746739627754,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-summer-school-fun-for-k-3/9253344/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Summer School Fun for K-3","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kennedy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6568256"},{"teacherId":9029344,"projectId":9328617,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to my project. The whiteboards I had in my classroom were hand-me-downs, so they were well loved over the years. We use whiteboards daily in our classroom to work on handwriting to start, and then move on to letters and sentences. This helps both our writing and reading skills!\r\nIn the past, my students would argue over who got to use what whiteboard since some of them weren't in the best shape. Now, when its time to use whiteboards, there are no disagreements! The whiteboard strips with lines will come in handy when we start working on writing sentences later in the year. The other whiteboard \"paper\" has come in handy for writing our morning message, and when I have had a substitute in my classroom, they have loves using it as well! \r\nThank you again for your contribution.
