I had the books from this DC project prepared and displayed around the library and the students could barely wait to check them out! The books in this wish list were a wonderful sampling of in-demand fiction and nonfiction books. We had to put a few books on reserve for a research project that the eighth grade starts the year with; some students had to put their excitement on hold for a couple of weeks. But they were easily intrigued by other great new titles.\r\n\r\nThis particular group of books hit several topics that are covered in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade research projects. Our hope is that these titles don't just help students research, but that they also inspire them to keep their inquiries going and spark new curiosities. Five of our eighth grade students came back to the library after their research papers were completed to check out the books they had discovered so they could keep reading about the topic. I think that is proof of the power your generosity and donations have had on our readers here.\r\n\r\nThank you for your unwavering support in getting our library back up to date and stocked with books that keep our kids wanting to read more! We could not have made this level of impact without your help. My throat has been less irritated this year, and I have to think it is because I am breathing cleaner air all day. The kids are also very appreciative of people wanting to make our space cleaner. Thanks to your generosity, over 35 new nonfiction books were delivered to our shelves. We had chosen this selection of books as it represented the most requested topics for our current research projects here at the middle school. I believe they have already made an immediate and positive impact on our young researchers. Our fifth-grade projects on the regions of the United States got a huge boost by the fantastic books dealing with geography, the national parks, and amazing places to visit. Our 8th grade researchers were enthralled by the Captured History series and biographies that they were able to use to complete one of their biggest research projects of the year. Several more books will play a key role for your 7th grade students in an upcoming project as well. Your donations have given us so much more than just a set of books, however. These titles have captured attention, curiosity, and true engagement for students that often do not have an interest in reading. Thank you for bringing such a powerfully positive experience to our middle school researchers.","fullyFundedDate":1727958156380,"projectUrl":"project/help-to-make-our-shelves-relevant-engag/8833915/","projectTitle":"Help to Make Our Shelves Relevant, Engaging, and Research Ready!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Conti","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7174580_orig.jpg?crop=517,517,x0,y13&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1616424905216","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/lconti"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39260","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":640,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":97,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":40.4,"schoolId":39260,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Taylor County Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Taylor County Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/taylor-county-school-district/taylor-co-middle-school/39260"}
