From the moment the books were introduced, students were excited to read, compare, and passionately advocate for their favorites. The bracket-style competition added a layer of excitement and purpose to their reading, turning each classroom into a hub of literary debate and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nThis event not only encouraged a love of reading but also fostered collaboration, communication, and analytical skills. Students eagerly awaited each round's results, proudly defending their chosen titles with well-thought-out reasoning. The cozy rugs have become the heart of our classroom for morning meetings, read-alouds, and collaborative discussions. They worked together to build creative paths, test them, and adjust designs when things didn't work—true problem-solving in action!\r\n\r\nTheir faces lit up with excitement and curiosity! When the materials arrived, they couldn't wait to dive in. Several students immediately started brainstorming what they could build, while others just kept saying, \"This is the coolest stuff ever!\" It was like opening presents on a holiday morning—their joy was contagious.\r\n\r\nWe're currently using the STEM items for a series of engineering challenges. Next, students will tackle a bridge-building project where they'll apply what they've learned about structure, balance, and weight distribution. The decorations and organized spaces also help them feel more comfortable and focused, creating the perfect environment for creative thinking and teamwork.\r\n\r\nThanks to these donations, our classroom feels more inviting and hands-on learning is thriving!","fullyFundedDate":1720981343209,"projectUrl":"project/a-safe-space-for-critical-thinking-and-p/8449294/","projectTitle":"A Safe Space for Critical Thinking and Problem Solving","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hamilton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9251598_orig.jpg?crop=1440,1440,x0,y360&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718041246667","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/emilyhamiltonthird"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39213","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":506,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.7,"schoolId":39213,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Daniels Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Daniels Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/raleigh-county-school-district/daniels-elementary-school/39213"}
