It is a fantastic instrument to develop motor skills, breath control, and teamwork. Students develop their musicianship skills by reading pitches on the treble clef staff, working on rhythms, and adding musical elements such as dynamics (volume) and tempo (speed). \r\nMy students were thrilled to see a box in the middle of the room as they walked to their sit spots. I had the students sit around the box and we worked together opening it up to discover the contents inside. There were 125 Lyons recorders along with 10 Nuvo recorders waiting to be played. Each student grabbed a recorder and began exploring the size, the shape, and its make. It was like seeing a child at a candy store for the first time. \r\nBecause of your donation I will teach 135 students about the recorder. The Nuvo recorders are even more special because my special needs students will have an easier time to learn with their peers. All of these students will continue to use these recorders until the end of their fifth grade year. That makes your gift that much more impactful. Thank you for investing in the lives of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1760693803221,"projectUrl":"project/recorders-rock/9620007/","projectTitle":"Recorders Rock!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3524769_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720494743817","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3524769"},{"teacherId":3524769,"projectId":9620067,"letterContent":"As the fifth grade students were walking to their sit spots, they noticed a box at the back of the room. As class progressed, curiosity was coming to the forefront as one student blurted \"What's in the box?\". I paused my lesson to explain the project \"Uke Got This\" to the students. They were thrilled that people like you were willing to help students like them. People they never met were willing to do something to make music more accessible to my students. \r\nMy students were thrilled to open the box and find five brand new ukuleles along with new pics and tuners. Students started to act like rock stars with their new instruments. Some students even took an ukulele and began strumming along trying to figure out a song they had learned previously. \r\nWith the addition of the five ukuleles, my class now has a complete set and each student will have their own ukulele. Students will work individually, in pairs, and as a whole group to learn fingerings, chords, and the history of the ukulele. My fifth graders look forward to the ukulele unit and cannot wait to get started. Thank you for your contribution. You have invested in the future of our students. Flexible seating has allowed them to wiggle as they work while staying on task.\r\n\r\nThe most recent project I wrote for ball chairs has been an incredible addition to our environment. The ball chair came with a firm stand for support which has a back and is on wheels. The students have embraced them whole heartedly. I thought the wheels would be problematic, so I was happy that there were wheel locks for safety. Not necessary! The wheels simply added another level of flexibility!\r\n\r\nSince there are several different options for sitting, the students sit somewhere different every day and they are sure to remind each other to do just that! I am so grateful to be able to work with these children every day and I am very grateful for the support of Donors Choose and the donors that make it possible to make things like this available for us and them.
