I can already see a little bit of improvement in their literacy skills while playing the games, simply because they enjoy doing it (vs. worksheets or other activities geared toward the same goal). One student in particular has absolutely shocked me with how much better he is reading sight words already, simply because he is having fun while doing so. Even though he gives it his all, he has struggled so much with reading. However, when he played \"The Fidget Game\" earlier this week, he got every single word correct during the last round and was having a blast doing so. My students were so excited when our Ninja SLUSHi machine arrived, and it has quickly become one of their favorite parts of our classroom celebrations.\r\n\r\nSo far this school year, we have used our celebration station five times! We kicked off the school year by celebrating the end of our first week together, enjoyed a special treat during Dolly Day, celebrated the completion of our pumpkin unit, and added a little extra fun to our Halloween party. One of my favorite celebrations was when our class reached a goal of earning 1,000 correct answers on a computer-based learning program. The students worked together, encouraged one another, and were so proud to see their hard work pay off!\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project so special is that it gives us a way to celebrate together. Rather than focusing on individual rewards, our celebrations recognize the effort, perseverance, kindness, and teamwork that make our classroom community strong. Every student gets to share in the excitement and feel that they are part of something special.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, it is incredibly rewarding to see how something as simple as a special classroom treat can create excitement, build relationships, and make lasting memories.
