The staff and students have enjoyed the items you have provided for our school. It has been very encouraging to all of us to know that someone chose to support our staff and students.\r\n\r\nAs the school counselor, I like to support our students using an assortment of books. I feel that using books with students provides excellent support for student social emotional needs. When using fiction stories, students can relate to how the characters feel and make connections with the problems and solutions in the stories with their own struggles. With nonfiction reading, students can expand their knowledge about many different topics. My students have enjoyed the books that I have read to them from your donation. \r\n\r\nSometimes, students come to my room to deescalate or get a break from a stressful situation. One option they have when coming to the counseling room is to use a book for calming purposes or entertainment. The dividers included in your gift has made it easier for students to find books they may enjoy while in the counseling room.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1755691637365,"projectUrl":"project/diversity-stress-and-organization/9552633/","projectTitle":"Diversity, Stress, and Organization","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3578952"},{"teacherId":3578952,"projectId":9301278,"letterContent":"Your support for our students has been greatly appreciated and made a difference for all of our students. They have experienced an improved self-esteem and sense of worth knowing that someone cared enough to supply with these gifts. \r\n\r\nYour gift contained a number of calm down devices that have been utilized many times. Several students have been given stress balls that they are able to keep in their book bags and/or desks. I've witnessed how students have been able to deescalate during times of high emotional states as a result of squeezing the squishy stress ball they've been given. We have a first grader that experiences a great deal of anxiety when leaving their mother in the drop off line. When I handed her the stress ball to keep with her, her face lit up. I then explained that a special person donated that ball for students in our school, and she hugged it close to her chest. Her mother explained that she gets it out on the way to school every morning, and she walks confidently into the building each day.\r\n\r\nOur kindergarten students have enjoyed the emotion coloring book. They've been able to practice writing and reading the emotion words and coloring the emotional pictures as well. We've been able to explore how to talk and appropriately share positive and negative emotions with each other. \r\n\r\nAs a teacher of social/emotional guidance lessons, I have found the books to be extremely beneficial. I have connected to books with various situations in our school and lessons in the curriculum. They have helped students build understanding, empathy, and compassion for others as the stories contain situations and characters that connect with them.","fullyFundedDate":1746444039824,"projectUrl":"project/becoming-a-stronger-me/9301278/","projectTitle":"Becoming a Stronger Me","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3578952"},{"teacherId":1777226,"projectId":9234187,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for donating so that I could purchase these social-emotion books for my students. Last year's class was so surprised because I didn't tell them about the books that would be coming. They jumped up and down and hugged the books like they couldn't believe it was real. It was truly a magical moment. \r\n\r\nThis year, I have been using the books from the beginning to help reinforce skills I teach during my lessons. Some of my students don't have an emotional vocabulary to express how they feel. These books definitely make it easier for them to learn. \r\n\r\nI'll be using these books every year that I teach, so you will have helped me to reach hundreds of students by the time I retire! And, since I'll pass these books on to another teacher, you'll be helping students far into the future.","fullyFundedDate":1744237752828,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-better-days-a-social-emotiona/9234187/","projectTitle":"Books for Better Days: A Social-Emotional Plan for Better Behavior","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Light","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1777226_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1450483712996","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/alight"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38971","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":148,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.2,"schoolId":38971,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pratt Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pratt Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/kanawha-county-school-district/pratt-elementary-school/38971"}
