Your support made it possible for us to purchase a high-quality Razer microphone, and it has already made a significant impact on our music program.\r\nHaving a reliable microphone for recording is an invaluable resource for any band striving to grow and improve, and this microphone has become an essential tool for us. We put it to great use during our recent concert and adjudication season. One of the most powerful ways musicians improve is by listening back to their performances. With this microphone, we were able to record our full ensemble rehearsals and performances in high fidelity. This allowed our students to truly hear themselves—something that can be incredibly difficult when you're inside the ensemble and surrounded by sound coming from all directions.\r\nAs we listened back to our recordings, students immediately began noticing ways they could improve their tone, balance, and blend. It sparked meaningful conversations about musical interpretation and ensemble playing. They could hear when a section was too loud or when articulation wasn't clear, and they were motivated to fix it. Because of this, we saw measurable growth in our sound quality and musicianship over the course of the season.\r\nWe also utilized the microphone during our marching band rehearsals. Marching band poses its own set of challenges when it comes to achieving a balanced, musical sound—especially outdoors. The microphone allowed us to record field rehearsals and run-throughs, which we then played back through our smart TV in the band room. This immediate feedback loop helped students make connections between what they felt during the performance and what the audience actually heard. It's one thing for me to tell them that the low brass need to play out more—it's another thing for them to hear it themselves and understand why.\r\nThe Razer microphone was also the perfect choice for integrating with our existing technology. It connected easily with our smart TV and school devices, making it simple to set up recordings and playback during class. This has streamlined our rehearsal process and made our practice time far more efficient.\r\nBeyond technical improvement, having access to this kind of professional-grade equipment has boosted student morale. It shows our students that their work is valued, and that they deserve access to the tools professionals use. It makes them feel like what they're doing matters—and that has an impact you can't always measure in decibels.\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students are developing not only as better musicians, but also as more reflective learners. Your donation has had a lasting impact on their growth, confidence, and love for music.","fullyFundedDate":1743608960265,"projectUrl":"project/microphone-for-band/9223244/","projectTitle":"Microphone for Band","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Shaffer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9745003"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_38868","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":582,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":38868,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Weir High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Weir High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/west-virginia/hancock-county-school-district/weir-high-school/38868"}
