We spend a great deal of time discussing the difference between thanking someone for this item or that gesture compared to being grateful for something that truly has an impact on our lives. Needless to say, the items purchased with your help through this grant impact these students on a daily basis and we cannot express how grateful we are for your help.\r\n Our special education classrooms are filled with a diverse group of students with equally diverse needs. Some become overstimulated easily and require breaks throughout the day and tools (low lighting, crash pads, weighted blankets) to help calm their sensory systems down so they can come back to the classroom and refocus on their work. Others tend to be on the under-stimulated side and benefit from breaks throughout the day and tools (mats to do exercises, light activities, tilt boards) to wake-up their sensory systems so they are ready to engage in the classroom. When student needs are so diverse, the list of needed equipment can become long and expensive. We are happy to say that this classroom is now equipped with all the tools these students need to help them be successful in the classroom. \r\n Over the past five years, I have witnessed our special education budgets decrease to almost nothing state wide. We have had to come up with creative ways to meet the needs of our students. This was the first time I have submitted a grant through Donors Choose. Thank you so much for making it such a great experience.","fullyFundedDate":1755695215470,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-room-essentials/9414467/","projectTitle":"Sensory Room Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lingo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935560"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_65990","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1883,"numTeachers":84,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"22.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.2,"schoolId":65990,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Skyview High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Skyview High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/vancouver-school-district-37/skyview-high-school/65990"}
