The hands-on materials you helped provide—Legos, magnetic tiles, puzzles, flexible seating, and other engaging tools—have become an essential part of our daily routine.\r\nEach morning, my students begin their day with what we call a \"soft start.\" Instead of rushing straight into academic tasks, they enter the room calmly, choose an activity that interests them, and start their day collaborating, problem-solving, and building together. You can feel the excitement and focus in the room as students gather around the Lego table to design miniature cities, or as they challenge each other with magnetic building creations.\r\nOne memorable moment came when a group of students worked together to build a magnetic bridge strong enough to hold a toy car. It took multiple tries, teamwork, and plenty of giggles—but when it finally held, the cheers that erupted said it all. These materials are giving my students not just tools for play, but opportunities to build perseverance, creativity, and confidence in themselves and each other.\r\nWhen the boxes first arrived, the excitement was contagious—students' eyes lit up, and they immediately started brainstorming what they could create. It's been amazing to see how this energy carries into the rest of our day; they transition into learning activities calmer, more focused, and ready to engage.\r\nOur next steps include connecting these hands-on experiences to STEM lessons in science and math. Students are beginning to apply what they learn about shapes, structures, and problem-solving during soft starts to more formal classroom projects.\r\nThank you for helping create a classroom where learning begins with joy every morning. Your generosity has made a lasting impact on my students' love for learning and their sense of belonging in our classroom community.\r\nWith heartfelt gratitude,","fullyFundedDate":1758229387649,"projectUrl":"project/morning-tubs/9537085/","projectTitle":"Morning Tubs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeLong","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4482797_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754071944180","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/alyssa-delong"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36610","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":306,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":34,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":36610,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Indian Trail Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Indian Trail Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/spokane-public-schools/indian-trail-elementary-school/36610"}
