This donation allowed me to purchase many different types of books and books in different languages. All students were able to choose 3 books to take home with them during our family literacy night for 2nd grade students.\r\n\r\nI live in a high poverty, rural area, and most students do not have books at home. This was the first time for some students to get to choose brand new books to add to their home library. This has sparked a love for reading more than I could have ever imagined. Many of our students arrive at school without having had a complete breakfast, or with limited access to nourishing meals throughout the day. This can greatly affect their focus, behavior, and ability to engage in learning activities.\r\nThe availability of daily snacks in our classroom has made a noticeable difference. For many of our students, this consistent access to food has helped to:\r\nImprove focus and learning stamina: With their nutritional needs met, students are more engaged during lessons and less likely to become distracted or fatigued.\r\nReduce behavioral challenges: Hunger can be a major trigger for emotional dysregulation. We've seen a decrease in outbursts and an increase in cooperative behaviors since implementing daily snack time. Promote independence and life skills: Snack time is integrated into our daily routines as a structured opportunity to practice decision-making, hygiene, social interaction, and even food preparation skills—important elements of our life skills curriculum.\r\nFoster a sense of community: Sharing a snack together provides moments of connection, conversation, and comfort—building trust and positive peer relationships.\r\nIn a classroom where consistency and predictability are essential, snacks have become more than just a nutritional supplement—they are a tool for learning, stability, and emotional support.\r\nWe are deeply grateful to those who have supported this effort—whether through donations, funding, or encouragement. Your generosity has had a real and lasting impact on our students' ability to learn, grow, and thrive in a supportive environment.\r\nThank you for believing in the potential of every learner.","fullyFundedDate":1759164553095,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-life-skills-students/9702954/","projectTitle":"Snacks for Life Skills students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. VanBuskirk","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7817584_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760136102473","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7817584"},{"teacherId":7877075,"projectId":8816973,"letterContent":"In our classroom, we've been having a fantastic time exploring the new resources, which have really sparked our students' creativity and curiosity. One of the most exciting projects we've worked on was using a set of colorful building blocks to explore shapes, patterns, and basic math concepts. The students were able to sort blocks by color, and even work together to create group projects. The hands-on nature of the materials really helps engage their imaginations while they learn through play.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement! They were immediately drawn to the bright colors and different textures. Some of them jumped right in, and explored the materials by sorting or counting them. It was clear they felt empowered by the new resources, and their excitement has continued as they use them in various activities.\r\n\r\nWe're so grateful to the donors for helping make these experiences possible.
