Your support has made an immediate and meaningful difference in the way my students learn and interact every day.\r\n\r\nWith individual whiteboards in their hands, my students feel more comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. Instead of worrying about putting the \"wrong\" answer on paper, they can quickly erase and try again—building confidence and resilience as learners. This simple change has encouraged more participation, especially from students who are usually hesitant to speak up or share their work.\r\n\r\nBeyond that, the whiteboards have brought my students together in a creative and collaborative way. Whether they're solving math problems as a team, brainstorming ideas in groups, or drawing out concepts to teach each other, the boards create an environment where learning feels fun, interactive, and inclusive.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has truly empowered my students to see mistakes not as setbacks but as part of the learning journey. Once a week, I point one out as a topic of discussion. Last week, we talked about how \"little things make big days\" and students shared about random acts of kindness, a simple smile, a compliment, among many others.\r\n\r\nLastly, the whiteboard erasers make a number of students smile at the bright colors and whimsical designs.","fullyFundedDate":1731523841140,"projectUrl":"project/welcoming-environments/8879806/","projectTitle":"Welcoming Environments","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hellyer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5107708_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y92&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1711720794780","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-hellyer"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36041","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1548,"numTeachers":72,"percentFrplEligible":33,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":47,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"21.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.8,"schoolId":36041,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Shorewood High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Shorewood High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/shoreline-public-schools/shorewood-high-school/36041"}
