These resources have already made an incredible difference in our school, and I'm thrilled to share the impact they're having on our community of learners!\r\n\r\nThe day the materials arrived, the excitement was contagious. Students' faces lit up as they saw the sensory tent, peapod, and flexible seating tools and we have been able to incorporate the tools in meaningful ways during our daily routines. For example, one of our students, who often feels overwhelmed during transitions, now uses the inflatable sensory peapod to take a calming break before returning to activities. It's become their favorite spot, and they've shared that it helps them feel \"safe and ready to learn.\" \r\n\r\nAnother memorable moment happened during a group reading activity. We added the HowdaHug Roll-Up Seats and Wiggle Wobble Chair Feet to our learning setup in our K/1 and 2/3 classrooms. Students who have previously struggled with sitting still and staying engaged during carpet learning activities, have been able stay engaged and focused while still getting the movement they need. Seeing them so invested in their learning activities is a powerful reminder of how these tools not only support learning but also nurture emotional well-being.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tent has also been a game-changer. We use it as a \"reset space\" for any student who needs a quiet moment during the day. It's incredible how just a few minutes in this calm, enclosed area can help a student regroup and return to their work feeling refreshed.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're planning to use these resources to continue to support our students in identifying their own sensory needs and create personalized strategies for focus and calmness. These tools are not just helping us meet immediate needs—they're teaching lifelong skills of self-regulation and resilience.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving our school this gift of inclusivity and support. Your generosity is helping to create a space where all students feel valued and understood.","fullyFundedDate":1726514758206,"projectUrl":"project/support-our-students-sensory-friendly-s/8427952/","projectTitle":"Support Our Students: Sensory-Friendly Seating & Activity Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Micaela","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9557925_orig.png?crop=447,447,x0,y22&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1716919378809","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9557925"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_94224","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":198,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":18,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":63,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":93.3,"schoolId":94224,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cascade K-8 Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cascade K-8 Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/shoreline-public-schools/room-nine-community-school/94224"}
