These last two weeks, my students have been busy doing geometry projects (3rd graders making up their own ornaments and 4th graders building a city).\r\n\r\nI only planned to spend a couple of days on them, but the kids were so engaged and involved that we spend a few extra days to make them really special. These kinds of projects are a testament to the value of having all kids of craft and construction supplies on hand. The base of the creations was the cardstock from this project. Then the kids used left-over craft supplies from some other DonorsChoose projects to really make their creations special and unique. Pipe cleaners, beads, and sticks to added trees to their cities. Little Christmas charms to add to their ornaments, and the kids went above and beyond in their creativity to make things that I hadn't even thought up.\r\n\r\nWe still have lots of cardstock left, which will come in handy for many similar projects in the future.\r\n\r\nThe binding combs and stickers are also very much appreciated. We have approximately 75 kids in Sumus House, with about 25 in each grade. Between this project and another project, we were able to let each grade do a different ornament so our finished Christmas tree has some variety. The kids are really proud of their work and excited to take them home to give to their parents from Christmas. \r\n\r\nBesides the finished product, the kids learned important fine-motor skills.
