We explored a curated selection of novels—ranging from diverse contemporary stories to \"old school\" classics like The Phantom Tollbooth—that tackle important social concepts and life lessons.\r\nTo make the experience special, we'd get cozy in the classroom with snacks and read aloud together. In this relaxed, low-pressure environment, I was thrilled to see every single student eventually volunteer to read, simply because they were enjoying the shared experience. Even when the stories felt like they were from a time \"so long ago, bro,\" (as my students say) the students were fully engaged. This project didn't just build their reading skills, it fostered a genuine love for storytelling and taught them the beauty of reading as a community. I am so excited to continue this special tradition with every year of students moving forward!","fullyFundedDate":1756387074040,"projectUrl":"project/new-classroom-new-grade-new-stories/9549272/","projectTitle":"New Classroom, New Grade, New Stories!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hefa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8603853_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y256&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660110553966","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8603853"},{"teacherId":8603853,"projectId":9579004,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our Care Cabinet is up and running—and it's already making a difference in our school community!\r\n\r\nWhen the cabinets were first placed in the hallway, our students were genuinely excited and curious! Several students, staff, and community members have all commented on how nice the cabinets look, and how cool it is that students have access to items they often need but don't always have on hand or have the ability to purchase on their own. One student responded with, \"This really helps,\" and gave his teacher a hug. That moment reminded us exactly why this project matters.\r\n\r\nSo far, we've already been able to give out a variety of personal care items (such as brushes, deodorant, pads, and reusable water bottles)! There's a growing sense of ownership and pride around the Care Cabinet.\r\n\r\nThis project has been about more than just supplies—it's about dignity, support, and creating a school environment where every student feels seen and cared for.
