Students are extremely engaged and are really excited about it! We work on about one chord per week and are working to start applying it to actual music. \r\nWhen they saw boxes slowly keep arriving, they were so excited and kept asking me what was in them, to which I just kept saying \"a surprise\". When we got to play then for the first time, they were so excited and what was really surprising and cool to see, is they are learning the sense of responsibility with them. They are extremely careful (for the most part) and are really interested in listening and trying their best. \r\nThey look forward to our \"Musical Mondays\" and the chance to get the ukuleles out, even if they are wildly out of tune and playing the wrong notes.\r\nOn our goal setting charts, multiple students are writing about growing in their music skills, whether that's ukulele, singing, guitar or piano, and are really interested in music. \r\nWe will learn about fractions soon, and I am so excited to find ways to use our musical knowledge to our fraction understanding. As we keep growing in this, I hope to apply grit and a growth mindset that we need in music to students struggles and academic growth. \r\nI look forward to using the ukuleles in the years to come to bring something fun, engaging and different to my students lives, and give them a chance to learn something they might never have the chance to otherwise.","fullyFundedDate":1731255956079,"projectUrl":"project/music-for-everyone-and-ukuleles/8928109/","projectTitle":"Music for Everyone! ...and Ukuleles!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wilcox","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9829898"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36207","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":296,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":59.4,"schoolId":36207,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oroville Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oroville Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/oroville-school-district-410/oroville-elementary-school/36207"}
