Each week, my students eagerly look forward to our dedicated STEM Bin time. These bins have become an amazing way for all learners—across many ability levels—to take educational breaks, practice perseverance, and explore hands-on engineering and design challenges. They are also a favorite activity for early finishers who love to take on a new challenge or refine a previous idea.\r\n\r\nWhen the STEM bins were first introduced, the students were so excited! They immediately began exploring and brainstorming ways to build bridges, towers, vehicles, and more. It was inspiring to watch them collaborate, test their ideas, and cheer each other on when something worked—or even when it didn't. Every mistake became a learning moment, and I saw incredible teamwork and resilience in action.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue incorporating these STEM Bins into our morning routines and small-group learning time. Students have begun setting personal STEM goals—like improving their designs or completing specific challenge cards—and we celebrate their progress weekly. These materials have helped make my inclusive classroom a space where creativity, problem-solving, and confidence can flourish every single day. Thank you for helping make that possible!","fullyFundedDate":1754183384648,"projectUrl":"project/stem-sparks-creative-morning-challenges/9492082/","projectTitle":"STEM Sparks: Creative Morning Challenges for Bright Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Summers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6741336_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x13,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748531353726","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6741336"},{"teacherId":6741336,"projectId":9384009,"letterContent":"The math kits funded through project have made a meaningful difference in our classroom. Each student now has their own organized kit, which has helped them keep track of supplies and come to math lessons prepared. Having everything they need at their fingertips allows students to focus more on problem-solving and less on searching for materials.\r\n\r\nBeyond supporting math learning, the kits have also helped students grow their executive functioning skills. They are practicing responsibility by managing their materials, building independence in their daily routines, and learning how to stay organized. These skills not only benefit them in math but also carry over into other subjects and their lives outside of school.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, my students feel more confident, capable, and ready to engage deeply with math. Your generosity has created a classroom environment where preparation and organization are no longer barriers to learning, but tools for success.","fullyFundedDate":1749897363532,"projectUrl":"project/from-messy-to-mastery-math-tools-for-ex/9384009/","projectTitle":"From Messy to Mastery: Math Tools for Executive Functioning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Summers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6741336_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x13,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748531353726","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6741336"},{"teacherId":6741336,"projectId":8698958,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for your generosity in funding our Math Manipulatives for Engaged Learning in an Inclusive Classroom project! The arrival of these materials has truly transformed the way my students engage with math. From the moment they saw the hands-on tools, their excitement was contagious. Many of my students learn best through tactile experiences, and these manipulatives have made abstract concepts more concrete and accessible for all learners.\r\n\r\nOne of the first activities we did was using fraction tiles to explore equivalent fractions. Seeing students who previously struggled with fractions light up as they physically manipulated the pieces was incredible. The base-ten blocks have also become a classroom favorite, helping students grasp place value and multi-digit operations with confidence. Watching students collaborate, problem-solve, and build their math understanding with enthusiasm has been amazing to witness.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, these materials will continue to support students for years to come. As we move forward, we plan to integrate the manipulatives into small-group instruction, ensuring that each student gets targeted, hands-on practice tailored to their needs. Your kindness has made a lasting impact, and my students and I are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1731548326780,"projectUrl":"project/math-manipulatives-for-engaged-learning/8698958/","projectTitle":"Math Manipulatives for Engaged Learning in an Inclusive Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Summers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6741336_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x13,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748531353726","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6741336"},{"teacherId":9817287,"projectId":8905549,"letterContent":"The materials have helped increase student focus and engagement in math, literacy, and social skills. I have a flexible classroom environment, where students are allowed to choose the type of activity they would like to work on. For students who may not enjoy workbook pages, specific tools, or the iPad, the learning materials from this project offer an alternative option that still reinforces important academic concepts. By offering a variety of hands-on learning tools, students can choose how they want to practice skills such as counting, identifying numbers, and learning letter sounds. The sensory-friendly textures and colors of the materials support sensory students and provide a more interactive way of learning. \r\n\r\nThe materials also provide opportunities for students to work on social skills, such as taking turns and calming down when needed. Whether students choose to play independently or with peers, they are still practicing key skills in math and literacy, but in a way that also helps them develop communication and cooperation. The flexibility of these materials allows for personalized learning, ensuring that all students can work on various goals in a way that suits their individual needs.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting my first classroom, as well as the first grade level.
