The students were over the moon when they saw the new lollipop drums and LCD writing tablets! The stickers are a huge hit when my Music Grizzly of the class gets to select a sticker! \r\n\r\nThe lollipop drums have been used consistently this fall to keep the steady beat and portray the \"boo\" in may Halloween songs and activities. My kindergarten students get a kick out of playing a \"lollipop\"!\r\n\r\nWe have used the LCD tablets a couple of times, I have plans to use them more! The tablets came in handy when the internet was out for a couple of days! The 3rd grade students had a blast showing me they could write rhythms in different meters! It not only was a fun activity for my students but it was also a quick way for me to assess the students on their knowledge. \r\n\r\nAt the end of each music class, I select two Music Grizzlies of the Day. These students have shown excellent behavior, participation, and been respectful to staff and classmates. These students get to select a sticker from the sticker chart! When the students first saw the spoons, their eyes lit up with curiosity—and then delight—as they quickly discovered how much fun they could have learning rhythm and coordination through hands-on play.\r\n\r\nWe began by exploring basic spoon techniques in rhythm circles, where students practiced steady beats along with recorded music. Students learned different ways to play the spoons and how to use different parts of their body to create different sounds. We experimented with wooden, metal, and plastic spoons to hear the different timbres.\r\n\r\nThese spoons have helped us integrate movement, music, and cultural appreciation into our lessons. Students are developing fine motor skills, learning about traditional American and world folk music, and even composing their own rhythmic patterns to share with the class.","fullyFundedDate":1742923413043,"projectUrl":"project/musical-spoons-to-create-tunes/9160585/","projectTitle":"Musical Spoons to Create Tunes!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Krober","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9828040"},{"teacherId":4515808,"projectId":8726882,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the printer, copy paper, and ink. They have enjoyed playing these games and sharpening their skills at the same time. It has been a joy to watch them.\r\n\r\nSeeing the students interact with each other while playing the games has been an added bonus to the math stations. I never thought about the social impact these games would have on the students. It is a great sound to hear the laughing, working together, learning and enjoyment of the students.
