Because of your generosity, my students now have the Little Spot of Feelings plushies and the Emotion Detective book, and these resources are making a meaningful difference. Students are strengthening their ability to identify and name their emotions with more precision, moving beyond \"happy\" or \"mad\" to words like \"frustrated,\" \"worried,\" or \"calm.\" The visual supports encourage independent practice, allowing students to match their feelings to the plushies, reference strategies, and take ownership of their regulation. We also incorporate yoga as a daily practice to help students reset their bodies and minds, giving them practical tools to manage strong emotions and return to learning.\r\nThese supports are especially important for my students because many have experienced trauma during their immigration to the United States and in the circumstances that brought their families here seeking a better life. Some are also navigating anxiety connected to the current political campaign conversations about returning immigrants. I make it a high priority to ensure my classroom feels safe, predictable, and affirming for every child. The Emotion Detective lessons help students read social cues and build empathy, while the plushies and visuals provide concrete tools to process feelings in a healthy way.\r\nYour donation has done more than provide materials—it has strengthened my students' emotional awareness, self-regulation, and sense of security. These are lifelong skills that support academic growth, relationships, and resilience. Thank you for investing in my students' well-being and for helping create a classroom where every child feels seen, supported, and safe.\r\nWith heartfelt appreciation,\r\n\r\nConstance","fullyFundedDate":1756734716689,"projectUrl":"project/calm-down-corner/9647317/","projectTitle":"Calm Down Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10221562"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_128282","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":671,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":19,"percentBlack":24,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":26,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.2,"schoolId":128282,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about River Ridge Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"River Ridge Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/kent-school-district-415/river-ridge-elementary/128282"}
