The watercolor palettes have allowed them to experiment with blending and layering colors in ways they hadn't been able to before, while the Kwik Stixs have made painting more accessible for younger students—no water, no mess, just vibrant colors and instant satisfaction! The permanent markers have been wonderful for adding detail and definition to their artwork. During our recent Op Art project, students used watercolors and permanent markers to create optical illusions with color and line. The younger students loved using the Kwik Stixs and Sharpies to make their \"Fall Cats,\" combining bright autumn hues with bold outlines. It was amazing to see how the new supplies encouraged even hesitant artists to dive in and express themselves confidently.\r\n\r\nIn music, the new maracas and hand drums have completely transformed class participation. Before, we didn't have enough rhythm instruments for everyone to play at once, which often meant taking turns. Now, every student has an instrument in hand during rhythm games and ensemble activities. The energy in the room is electric—students are more engaged, focused, and excited to make music together. One memorable moment was when my younger students played along to a familiar song, each keeping their own steady beat while smiling ear to ear.\r\n\r\nNext, my students will be combining art and music by creating their own rhythm pattern artwork—painting patterns inspired by beats we learn in class. Thanks to these resources, they're able to explore creativity through both sound and color, deepening their understanding and love of the arts. The excitement these materials have brought into our classroom has been truly inspiring, and I'm so grateful to see my students' confidence and enthusiasm grow every day.","fullyFundedDate":1752586545783,"projectUrl":"project/music-and-art-supplies/9416556/","projectTitle":"Music and Art Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Beam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9570203_orig.jpg?crop=371,371,x383,y571&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727969085738","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9570203"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44435","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":23,"numTeachers":4,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"5.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":44435,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Index Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Index Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/index-school-district-63/index-elementary-school/44435"}
